Saryu Roy Asks Official Machinery to Gear Up For Summer Water Supply

MLA Saryu Roy directs officials to ensure adequate drinking water and improve cleanliness in the city.

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has instructed JNAC and Tata Steel UISL officials to arrange sufficient drinking water in all areas and prepare a list of water-scarce settlements for tanker supply, while also addressing the neglected cleaning system in slum areas.

JAMSHEDPUR – MLA Saryu Roy has directed JNAC and Tata Steel UISL officials to make arrangements for adequate drinking water supply in all areas of the city and prepare a list of water-scarce settlements for tanker supply, in view of the approaching summer season.

A joint team has been formed to complete the necessary groundwork and ensure timely implementation of the water supply plans.

Roy has asked the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee to identify settlement areas that face water shortages during summer and require tanker supply.

He also mentioned that the system being prepared to provide drinking water in areas like Bhuiyandih, Gwala Basti, Babudih, and Lal Bhatta, along with the ongoing work of laying water supply pipelines in Jojobera, will ensure drinking water availability in those regions.

Separate tankers should be arranged for areas where drinking water is to be supplied from both the drinking water projects, Roy stated.

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner has assured that they will arrange for at least six additional water tankers and soon prepare the list of water-scarce settlements.

Roy has requested Tata Steel to complete both the drinking water projects soon so that people can have the convenience of drinking water during summer.

In a related development, Roy has warned Jamshedpur NAC about the paralyzed cleaning system in slum areas, alleging that cleaning contractors are neglecting their duties, particularly in Prem Nagar and Laxmi Nagar.

He pointed out that in Jojobera, people have to do the cleaning themselves due to the negligence of the assigned contractors.

Roy has asked the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to obtain a list of laborers from all cleaning contractors and provide it to his office for monitoring their work in the respective areas.

He emphasized that such negligence in the cleanliness system is intolerable, citing daily complaints from various areas regarding the lack of proper sanitation.

Roy has set a deadline of one to two days for the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to fix the cleaning arrangements and submit a schedule of the cleaning contractors for further action.
