Jharkhand Unveils Education Schemes to Ease Financial Woes

Chief Minister Champai Soren Launches Initiatives for Student Loans and Scholarships

In a significant move to promote higher education in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Champai Soren introduced the Guruji Student Credit Card and the Manki Munda Scholarship schemes in Ranchi. These initiatives aim to dismantle financial barriers for students aspiring for higher education, ensuring they can pursue their academic goals without monetary constraints.

RANCHI – Chief Minister Champai Soren unveiled two educational schemes to enhance access to higher education for students in Jharkhand.

The Guruji Student Credit Card offers collateral-free loans up to Rs 15 lakh with a 4% annual interest rate, starting repayment a year post-course completion.

The Manki Munda Scholarship incentivizes girls pursuing technical education, offering up to Rs 30,000 per annum.

Already, 1,200 students have registered for the credit card, and 800 girls for the scholarship, indicating strong initial uptake.

During the launch, symbolic credit cards and scholarships were distributed to students, highlighting the schemes’ immediate impact.

Soren highlighted education’s pivotal role in realizing a developed Jharkhand, focusing on the upliftment of laborers’ and farmers’ children.

Additionally, a monthly stipend scheme and a newly opened 3D theatre in Ranchi were announced, further underscoring the state’s commitment to education.

The introduction of a web portal for the Guruji Student Credit Card and collaborations with banks and the National Innovation Foundation of India were also part of the initiatives.

"Removing financial hurdles in the path of higher education is a crucial step towards building a developed Jharkhand," stated Chief Minister Soren, emphasizing the transformative potential of the new schemes.

The launch included significant partnerships and technological advancements, such as the agreement with banks for the credit card scheme and the inauguration of a 3D theatre, showcasing the state’s approach towards integrating education with innovation and technology.
