Campaign to Safeguard Democracy Initiates Yatra in Kolhan

‘Save Democracy 2024’ embarks on a journey across Kolhan to champion democracy and constitutional rights.

The ‘Save Democracy 2024’ campaign kicks off a two-day yatra in Singhbhum and Khunti, aiming to bolster democratic values ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

CHAIBASA – The campaign began its journey today, covering several villages in the Sadar, Seraikela, and Chakradharpur assembly constituencies.

Activities included public meetings, distribution of pamphlets, and poster campaigns in Budigoda and surrounding areas.

Speakers highlighted the alleged infringement of rights under the current government, affecting tribals, minorities, and various social groups.

The campaign criticized policies perceived as detrimental to tribal lands and rights, including proposed amendments to the Forest Conservation Act.

Accusations were made against the government for favoring corporates over community lands and for the militarization of tribal areas for industrial projects.

The failure to fulfill promises such as depositing Rs 15 lakh in every account and creating 2 crore jobs annually was also discussed.

Critics argue that government policies have exacerbated the challenges faced by farmers and the working class, citing demonetization and lockdowns.

The ‘Save Democracy 2024′ campaign plans to extend its activities to all Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand, including public meetings and yatras.

Notable speakers like Ambika Yadav and Siraj Dutta emphasized the campaign’s goals during the Kolhan leg of the yatra.
