Principal Secretary Appointment Brings Continuity to Jharkhand Top Echelons
Vinay Choubey has been appointed as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Champai Soren, signaling a new chapter in Jharkhand’s governance.
JAMSHEDPUR – Vinay Choubey, awaiting his next assignment, has officially been appointed as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Champai Soren, following a recent notification by the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Official Language.
This is not Choubey’s first tenure in such a pivotal role; he previously served as Principal Secretary to former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
However, his position was vacated following Hemant Soren’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a land scam.
Choubey’s reappointment comes amid significant political shifts in Jharkhand, marking a return to a crucial post in the administration under Champai Soren’s leadership.
Champai Soren, the leader of the legislature party, was sworn in as Chief Minister on February 2, in a ceremony at Raj Bhavan, presided over by Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
This transition followed the arrest of Hemant Soren by the ED on January 31, which concluded the political uncertainty in the state.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan extended an invitation to Champai Soren late Thursday night to form the government, leading to a swift swearing-in the following day.
The ceremony saw not only Champai Soren taking the oath but also Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta as members of the Council of Ministers, ushering in a new administration in Jharkhand.
