Baridih Road Widening Delayed, Sparks Local Outrage

Tata Steel UISL Faces Criticism for Slow Road Expansion in Baridih

The delayed widening of a 300-meter road in Baridih, managed by Tata Steel UISL, has led to local discontent and safety concerns.

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Baridih are expressing growing frustration over the prolonged widening of a 300-meter stretch from Tata Manipal College to Bajrang Chowk, a project undertaken by Tata Steel UISL.

Congress District Vice President, Bablu Jha, raised allegations of arbitrary practices by the company in this road construction.

During his recent visit to the site, Jha observed the slow progress, which has been ongoing for the last three to four years.

He claimed that the local representatives, Poddar and Manav, cited delayed payments from the company as a key reason for the sluggish pace and frequent contractor changes.

This project’s delay has significantly impacted daily life in Baridih, especially for shopkeepers who operate along the road, Jha said.

Jha said that the incomplete section near Bajrang Chowk, now marred with a pothole for over a month, has not only narrowed the main road but also caused a recent accident.

Tata Steel UISL had initially promised completion by Durga Puja, but the deadline has now been pushed to next March.

He said that his efforts to contact TSUISL General Manager Captain Dhananjay Mishra for comments were unsuccessful.

He claimed that further complicating matters, site engineers reportedly lack copies of the work order and permission, and there have been instances of BSNL fiber being cut without notice, disrupting network services.

With the Tusu festival approaching, Bablu Jha has urged local residents and shopkeepers to convene and strategize their response to the ongoing issue.
