Canada-Based Lakhbir Singh Landa Named Terrorist by India Amid Diplomatic Strains

India designates Lakhbir Singh Landa as a terrorist, linking him to Punjab attacks.

DESK – India has officially declared Canadian mobster Lakhbir Singh Landa, a most-wanted fugitive, as a terrorist.

This development follows diplomatic tensions between New Delhi and Ottawa, sparked by PM Justin Trudeau’s comments regarding the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Landa, a member of Babbar Khalsa International, resides in Edmonton, Alberta, and is accused of multiple terrorist operations, including a 2021 rocket attack on Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali.

The 34-year-old, son of Niranjan Singh and Parminder Kaur, hails from VP Harike in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, bordering Pakistan.

The Union Home Ministry revealed that Landa carried out the Mohali attack with a shoulder-fired rocket-propelled grenade, with assistance from a cross-border agency.

He is also implicated in supplying IEDs, sophisticated weapons, and explosives for terrorist activities in Punjab.

Landa’s criminal activities extend to terror modules, extortion, murder, arms and narcotics smuggling, and funding terrorist acts in Punjab and other areas.

The Home Ministry warned that Landa and his associates are plotting targeted killings and other disruptive activities nationwide, particularly in Punjab.

Since moving to Canada in 2017, Landa has masterminded several attacks, including the 2022 RPG assaults on Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters and Sarhali Police Station.

In August, an NIA special court ordered the seizure of a pro-Khalistan terrorist’s property in Tarn Taran district’s Kirian village.

Following the NIA court ruling, Landa’s village property was seized under Section 33(5) of the UA(P) Act, 1967. He was officially labeled an offender on July 27, 2023.

Initially a criminal and thug, Landa has reportedly continued anti-India activities from Canada, according to officials.
