Jharkhand Assembly Committee Reviews Medical Corporation’s Operations

Key Focus on Medicine Procurement and Ambulance Services by Jharkhand Medical Corporation

RANCHI – The Jharkhand Assembly’s Committee on Public Undertakings, led by MLA Saryu Rai, recently evaluated the operations of the Jharkhand Medical and Health Infrastructure Development and Procurement Corporation Limited (JMHIDPCL).

The committee’s scrutiny highlighted the corporation’s initiative in supplying 206 ambulances across various districts, emphasizing their categorization into Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Neo Natal types.

Training provided to operators for ventilator-equipped ambulances was particularly noted during the committee’s review.

Regarding AYUSH Wellness Health Centres, the corporation detailed the provision of test kits for 14 different tests, under regular supervision by Medical Officers and Civil Surgeons.

The committee demanded a comprehensive list of empanelled laboratories across India, used for quality assessment of medical supplies.

In response to queries on medication quality, the corporation assured the use of multiple labs for quality checks.

The committee was informed about a one-time delay in receiving state government funds for equipment purchase, which led to a late fee payment covered by the 15th Finance Commission.

The corporation’s funding structure, with a 60:40 split between National Health Mission and State Government, was also discussed.

MD Alok Trivedi clarified the corporation’s medicine procurement strategy, focusing on competitive pricing and diverse sources, including government undertakings.

The meeting began with discussions on the distribution of medicines, medical equipment, and ambulances by JMHIDPCL in the districts.

MLA Saryu Rai chaired the meeting, which also saw the presence of former health minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi.
