Rotary Club Launches Menstrual Health Campaign in Jamshedpur

‘Menstrupedia’ Campaign Focuses on Women’s Empowerment and Health

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City embarks on a major Menstrual Health and Hygiene initiative, advocating fundamental rights for women.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant stride towards promoting menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) as a fundamental right rather than a privilege, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City has launched a large-scale initiative focused on girl and women empowerment.

The campaign, dubbed “Menstrupedia,” was conducted at Netaji Subhash University (NSU) on 28th November, targeting university students.

The event was marked by the installation of pad vending machines and the distribution of sanitary pads, led by Rishu Ranjan.

The installation of the Sanitary Napkin Incinerator Machine, carried out by AG RTN Hetal Adesara, stands as a testament to the club’s commitment to women’s health and environmental sustainability.

The use of sanitary napkins from these vending machines is expected to significantly reduce the spread of infections.

Additionally, it addresses key environmental concerns by minimizing pollution caused by non-biodegradable sanitary napkins and reducing blockages in public drainage systems often caused by the spongy nature of these napkins.

The participants said that this initiative by the Rotary Club not only addresses immediate health and environmental concerns but also plays a crucial role in breaking the stigma associated with menstruation.

They said that by facilitating easy access to menstrual hygiene products and educating the youth, the club is paving the way for a more informed and empathetic society, where menstrual health is recognized as a fundamental right and not just a privilege.
