UNICEF Jharkhand Launches Campaign for Menstrual Hygiene Awareness on World Menstrual Hygiene Day

Focus on Engaging Men and Boys to Promote Menstrual Health and Break Taboos

On World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024, UNICEF Jharkhand kicked off a month-long campaign to raise awareness and promote Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in Ranchi.

RANCHI – UNICEF Jharkhand, in partnership with NSS Ranchi, has initiated a campaign with the slogan ‘Speak openly about menstruation, don’t let silence prevail’ to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene.

The campaign kicked off with the #RedDotChallenge, which brought together 200 young girls and boys from Ranchi University and NSS volunteers.

A group of individuals walked together from Ranchi University to Oxygen Park, Morabadi, holding signs and banners to promote awareness about menstrual hygiene.

Dr. Brajesh Kumar, a state NSS officer, emphasized the campaign’s emphasis on mobilizing the community and promoting health and hygiene.

Our activities will focus on encouraging the safe disposal of menstrual waste and empowering young people to become advocates for menstrual hygiene.

Dr. Kaninika Mitra, Chief at UNICEF Jharkhand, highlighted the significance of menstrual hygiene in promoting dignity and empowerment.

It is important to recognize that involving men and boys is essential in order to address the taboo surrounding menstruation and foster a nurturing atmosphere.

The campaign strives to make sure that menstruation does not impede the education and well-being of women and girls.

The initiative aims to promote gender equality and uphold the dignity of all individuals by addressing menstrual hygiene.

Notable individuals like Kumar Premchand, Laxmi Saxena, Astha Alang, and partners from NGOs were present at the event.

The campaign aims to engage communities in discussions about menstrual health, promoting awareness and understanding.

UNICEF Jharkhand is working towards a larger objective of promoting a world that is more open and accepting when it comes to menstrual health, aiming to break societal taboos.
