Rural Farmers Vegetable Sellers Association seeks dedicated space in Kadma Market to resolve current issues faced by tribal farmers.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Rural Farmers Vegetable Sellers Association, in a recent turn of events, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Jamshedpur.
Their demand is to allocate a designated space for rural farmer vegetable sellers in the Kadma market.
They explained the struggles faced by tribal native farmers who, due to lack of space in the market, are forced to vend their produce on roadside at Kadma Road No. 4 and Road No. 21.
These farmers, hailing from several villages around Patmada, Dobo, Rugdih, Uttamdih, Itagarh, and Subarnarekha Kharkai river, have been coming to the Kadma market for years.
In addition to selling on the roadside, the farmers also reported abusive language and illicit recovery practices by the local police administration and disruptive elements.
The association highlighted that a place had been provided for them in the Kadma market previously, but it was given to fish vendors later on, adding to their difficulties.
They have strongly requested the Deputy Commissioner to rectify the situation and ensure a fair marketplace for the tribal farmers of the region.
