Three perpetrators involved in the brutal murder of Hyva driver Tilak Mahato have been apprehended by RIT police, two others remain at large.
SERAIKELA – RIT police station in Kharsawan district has disclosed the mystery behind the murder of highway driver Tilak Mahato.
In a major breakthrough, the police have arrested three criminals and sent them to judicial custody.
Sanjay Mahato, Shahzada Alam, and Mohammad Shariq are the offenders nabbed by the authorities.
Police have also seized a country-made pistol, two magazines, five live 7.56 bore cartridges, a motorbike, and mobile phones of different companies from them.
Superintendent of Police, Dr. Vimal Kumar, confirmed that on July 24, Tilak Mahato was gunned down by unknown offenders near Kashidih railway tunnel under Aait police station.
Following the incident, a team under the leadership of SDPO Harvinder Singh was formed to probe the case.
Through comprehensive human and technical investigation, the team launched raids at different locations, which led to the arrest of the three criminals.
However, two suspects are still absconding, and the police are conducting raids for their capture.
According to Dr. Vimal Kumar, the primary suspect is Sanjay Mahato who confessed to having Tilak Mahato killed out of revenge.
Apparently, Mahato felt humiliated when Tilak forced him to spit and lick publicly around a year and a half ago.
The murder was an act of vengeance, as confessed by all the three arrested.
It’s notable that Shahzada Alam and Mohammad Shariq are known criminals with several cases registered against them in various police stations of Jamshedpur.
