Loyola School Complex unveils Multi-Faith Prayer Hall, promoting interfaith dialogue & public welfare. Inclusive space for students’ spiritual growth.
Jamshedpur – The Loyola School celebrated the inauguration of its newly constructed Multi-Faith Prayer Hall, marking a significant milestone in the school’s dedication to fostering interfaith dialogue and inclusivity.
Former Principal Father Pius Fernandes SJ presided over the event, emphasizing the importance of public welfare as the highest religion.
In his address, Father Fernandes encouraged attendees to examine all religions and beliefs from a human perspective, highlighting the shared essence of truth found in various faiths.
He said that the Jesuit Society continues to promote spiritual growth and exploration for all students, exemplified by the realization of this unique and inclusive prayer space.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp, led by Fr Pius Fernandes SJ, Fr Vinod Fernandes SJ, and other distinguished guests.
The theme “Aham Brahmasmi,” which signifies the presence of the Supreme Lord within everyone, provided a unifying message for the ceremony.
Passages from the Holy Bible, Holy Quran Sharif, Bhagwat Gita, Guru Granth Sahib, and Parsi Granth Avesta were read to further emphasize the interconnectedness of all religions.
Father Vinod, the current Principal, expressed gratitude to the Alumni Association, the Santosh Singh Sandhu family, Architect Messrs Shashikala, and builder Feroze for their invaluable contributions to the construction of the prayer hall.
In addition to the Multi-Faith Prayer Hall, an indoor badminton court was also inaugurated at the event.
Vice Principals of the Junior and Senior Sections, academic staff, and students were present at the ceremony, signifying the school community’s commitment to embracing religious diversity and promoting the values of truth and public welfare.
