Jamshedpur: The Chhatisgarhi community of Jamshedpur today carried out the visarjan of Jawara Puja on Ram Navami. A large number of devotees assembled at Swarnrekha Visarjan Ghat at Sonari for the visarjan.
The Chhattisgarhi community in Jamshedpur held Jawara Puja this year too in the traditional manner and today on Ram Navami the visarjan was done.
The visarjan or immersion ritual took place today at Sonari’s Visarjan Ghat to mark the completion of the puja, which lasted for nine days.
The event was celebrated fervently, and hundreds of members of the Chhattisgarhi community could be seen taking part in the immersion procession.
In the morning, several Jawara Puja Committees led the immersion processions.
When they made their way to the river ghat, thousands of women could be seen holding Jawara on their heads.
Numerous devotees participated in the procession and performed tricks with chains.
To see these feats, a sizable gathering of followers had assembled too.
Several police units were stationed in the area for security.
For nine days, during which time jyotis are continually kept burning, the Chhattisgarhi community worships riches and the mother during Chaitra Navratri.
The nine manifestations of Lady Durga are worshipped, and after nine days, wealth manifests as the Jawara plant. People from the Chhattisgarhi culture adhere to this ritual every year in accordance with their traditions, and its manifestation was evident today throughout the event.
