Earthquake hits Turkiye again

Earthquake hits Turkiye again. The earthquake struck at 1:27 p.m. local time in Turkey’s central Anatolia region of Nigde province on Saturday, according to the country’s seismic monitoring center Kandili.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

However, no damage has been reported so far. 

Turkey’s disaster management agency AFAD said the epicenter of the earthquake was seven kilometers below the surface.

The country’s vice president, Fuat Okte, said rescue teams were on the scene to see if there was any damage.

He said on Twitter, ‘There is no bad news at the moment. May Allah protect us from all kinds of calamities.’

A strong earthquake struck the border area between Turkey and Syria in the early hours of February 6.

The number of people killed in the two countries has increased to over 50,000.
