16 soldiers killed in road mishap in Sikkim, PM expresses grief

New Delhi: The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has condoled the loss of lives of army personnel due to a road mishap in Sikkim.

PM Modi also wished speedy recovery of those who got injured in the road mishap.

The Prime Minister Office tweeted;

“Pained by the loss of lives of our brave army personnel due to a road mishap in Sikkim. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon: PM @narendramodi

The accident took place in the northern region of Sikkim state, where an Indian army truck fell down a high gorge in Zima area.

Media reports said that the Indian army truck fell down the mountain as a result 16 personnel including three officers were killed.

According to media reports, an immediate rescue operation has been started in the area after the accident and 4 injured soldiers have been taken out of the truck and taken to the hospital.

Reports said that three junior commissioned officers and 13 soldiers lost their lives in the accident.
