Arjun Munda lays foundations of Eklavya Model Residential School at Khairboni, Rajnagar

Jamshedpur: The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs laid the foundations of an Eklav Model Residential School at Khairboni in Rajnagar. The transport minister of Jharkhand Mr. Champai Soren and MP Geeta Koda were also present on the occasion.

Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) is an ambitious scheme of the central government.

EMRS started in the year 1997-98 to impart quality education to ST children in remote areas in order to enable them to avail of opportunities in high and professional educational courses and get employment in various sectors. The schools focus not only on academic education but on the all-round development of the students.

In order to give further impetus to EMRS, it has been decided that by the year 2022, every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons, will have an EMRS.

Each school has a capacity of 480 students, catering to students from Class VI to XII. Grants are given for construction of schools and recurring expenses to the State Governments under Grants under Article 275 (1) of the Constitution.

In his addressing on the occasion, the Union Minister Arjun Munda said that the Government of India is dedicated to the development of tribals and tribal community.

He said that free education and hostelswould be ensured in every Eklavya Vidyalaya for 480 children of tribal communities so that benefits of education can reach lowest strata of tribal communities.

Dispelling the misconceptions about anti-corona vaccine, he appealed to everyone to take the vaccine.

On the other hand, Jharkhand Transport Minister and the local MLA Champai Soren expressed his gratitude towards the Jharkhand Government and said that the Jharkhand Government has provided land to implement the scheme of the Central Government, so that all-round development of the children of tribal communities of the area can be ensured.

He said that with good education, they too can join the mainstream of the society.

He stressed the need to make people aware about anti-corona vaccine on behalf of his department.

He also appealed to all the tribal communities to actively participate in the vaccination campaign.

The MP Geeta Koda while addressing the gathering said that now the time has come for the children of tribal community to get quality education.

She said that in present situation, the establishment of Eklavya Vidyalaya in the area will prove to be a milestone.

She said that Eklavya Model Residential School to be established here will be a a boon for the students of the area.

After a long time, BJP’s Union Minister Arjun Munda and JMM’s State Transport minister Champai Soren were seen sharing a stage.
