Chaibasa: A 24-year-old girl of Sosopi Tola in Trilpi village of Kumardungi block in Chaibasa was killed allegedly by the youth who had duped her in the name of marriage and love.
According to information received, a local youth identified as C M Samad had duped the victim by promising to marry her and was persuading her to go with him.
When the girl refused to go with him, he allegedly started blackmailing her.
According to police, Tuesday night at 10 p.m. he called the girl outside her house for meeting her. The girl went to meet him without informing her family members.
When she did not return for a long time, the family members got worried. Later, in the morning her dead body was found by villagers in front of the pond in the village.
The Kumardungi police station was informed. The police soon arrived and sent the dead body for post mortem. An investigation was also launched.
The family members expressed apprehension that she might have been killed after sexual assault.
The police acted fast in the case and rounded up her alleged lover C M Samad.
The police said that the accused has conceded that he was involved in the crime.
The police interrogated the youth, who was later sent to judicial custody.
