Jharkhand Exam Delay Upsets Candidates; BJP Slams Hemant Government
Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s decision to postpone the Jharkhand General Graduate Eligible Combined Competitive Examination-2023 causes widespread disappointment.
RANCHI – The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has unexpectedly postponed the Jharkhand General Graduate Qualified Combined Competitive Examination-2023, initially scheduled for December 16 and 17, 2023.
The Commission, on December 11, 2023, announced the delay, attributing the postponement to the selected examination agency’s inability to conduct the exams as planned.
In response, Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi criticized the Hemant Soren-led government, accusing it of betraying the state’s youth aspiring for government jobs.
Marandi argued that the failure to conduct the exam reflects not on the agency but on Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s administration.
He claimed that Soren had failed to fulfill employment promises made to the youth, who are now determined to hold him politically accountable.
Approximately 650,000 students were expected to participate in the now-postponed examination.
The JSSC, in a letter to the Personnel Department, had earlier highlighted challenges in conducting the examination, citing the absence of a seat matrix from nine districts as a major hurdle.
According to the Commission, the examination conducting agency requires around two months post-receipt of the seat matrix to prepare for and conduct the examination.
This preparation involves dispatching question papers, answer sheets, and attendance sheets to various centers, among other logistical tasks.
The postponement comes amid controversies surrounding several JSSC examinations, including the recent municipal examination where allegations of open question paper seals at five centers were reported.
This decision by the JSSC has led to considerable disappointment among students who had been intensively preparing for the examination.
The JSSC has assured that a new date for the examination will be announced on its website soon.
However, no specific timeline has been provided, leaving candidates in a state of uncertainty.
