DC, with NDRF Team, Inspects Riverine Areas as Rains in Jamshedpur Lead to Water-Logging

Amid incessant rains in Jamshedpur, officials, led by Deputy Commissioner, inspect areas affected by water-logging, ready for adverse conditions.

JAMSHEDPUR – Due to continuous rainfall in and around Jamshedpur, several riverine areas are now facing water-logging situations.

Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, accompanied by a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), carried out an inspection of these areas and assessed the prevailing circumstances on Wednesday.

Increasing water levels were noted in both the Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers, primarily due to the release of dam water.

While water-logging issues had emerged in several areas on the river banks, conditions have since returned to normal.

However, in anticipation of potential monsoon-related challenges, the district administration has reportedly made necessary preparations.

The Deputy Commissioner visited Baroda Ghat of the Kharkai River and the flood-impacted region of Bagbera, situated downstream of the Kharkai River.

He emphasized that although the situation is currently stable, the district administration is well-prepared to manage any adverse events.

A ban has been put in place, preventing individuals from venturing near riverbanks.

Additionally, temporary shelters have been established in low-lying regions as a part of the administration’s comprehensive preparedness measures.

The administration has also urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious during this time.
