Key Points:
- Chief Minister’s elder sister Anjani Soren ties rakhi at official residence
- Cousin sisters also perform the ritual, wish him a long life
- CM extends Raksha Bandhan greetings to all Jharkhand residents
RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren observed an emotional Raksha Bandhan on Saturday as his elder sister Anjani Soren tied a rakhi on his wrist. The festival, which symbolises the enduring bond between brothers and sisters, brought a personal moment to the Chief Minister’s otherwise busy schedule.
Anjani Soren prayed for her brother’s happiness, good health and a long life as she performed the ritual. Several of the Chief Minister’s cousin sisters also arrived to tie rakhis, each offering similar wishes for his wellbeing and prosperity.
Soren, in turn, sought blessings from his elder sister following tradition. He also blessed his younger sisters and extended his good wishes to them on the occasion.
The Chief Minister used the occasion to greet the wider public as well. He conveyed his warm wishes to all residents of Jharkhand on both Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan, praying for everyone’s happiness, prosperity, progress and a joyful life ahead.
Soren’s mother, Rupi Soren, was present during the family gathering, along with other relatives. The low-key family celebration came even as the state government continues to navigate several ongoing administrative and political matters.
Meanwhile, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has been engaged in a series of public events across the state in recent days. Party workers in several districts marked commemorative occasions alongside coalition partners as part of the broader political calendar.
The Chief Minister’s office has also been active on governance matters this month. Officials recently confirmed that the state’s road infrastructure projects faced setbacks after the Centre withdrew sanction for a major funding package.
Separately, the state government has been dealing with unrest linked to recruitment examinations. The Jharkhand High Court recently stayed an order cancelling JSSC-CGL and CDPO appointments, a matter that has drawn political attention in recent weeks.
The Raksha Bandhan celebrations at the Chief Minister’s residence concluded with family members exchanging greetings and sweets, according to officials familiar with the day’s events.
