SSP Deploys Massive Force Across City’s Sensitive Areas

JAMSHEDPUR – Police staged an extensive flag march across the city late Thursday night as authorities tightened security ahead of Friday’s proposed bandh.
Jamshedpur police remained on high alert Thursday night. A large flag march moved through key city areas.
The new Superintendent of Police personally led the march. Senior officers, including the city and rural SPs, joined him.
All deputy superintendents and station in-charges also took part. A large contingent of police personnel accompanied the march.
Nearly 50 Tango mobiles and PCR vans joined the exercise. Station patrol teams and other police vehicles also took part.
The convoy passed through Bistupur, Sakchi and other sensitive areas. Officers appealed to residents to maintain peace and harmony.
However, police warned that no untoward incident would be tolerated. Forced shop closures, vandalism and road blockades were also barred.
Authorities said action would follow anyone taking law into hands. Anti-social elements are being closely monitored across the city.
Additional police forces have been deployed at sensitive locations. Officials said this covers markets, junctions and public spaces.
The SSP directed all personnel to remain alert and active. “Public safety is our topmost priority,” the SSP said.
Sufficient police force has been kept ready for any situation. Mobile patrolling teams and quick response units are also on standby.
Meanwhile, officials said the march aimed to reassure city residents. It also intended to send a strict warning to troublemakers.
Police said swift, firm action will follow any disruption. Officers urged people to ignore rumors circulating in the city.
Residents were also asked to report suspicious activity immediately. Meanwhile, authorities had earlier imposed prohibitory orders in the city.
In addition, BJP workers had held a torchlight procession this week. The bandh call itself followed Saryu Roy’s bandh appeal over the case.
Similarly, police had held a flag march during Ram Navami earlier this year. On the other hand, the citywide bandh is set to begin Friday morning.
