Prohibitory Orders in Force Till Further Notice in Dhalbhum Subdivision
Key Points:
- Section 163 imposed in seven police station areas from July 1
- Gatherings of five or more people banned to prevent public disorder
- Media, medical staff and on-duty officials exempted from the order
JAMSHEDPUR – Authorities in the Dhalbhum subdivision have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across seven police station areas of Jamshedpur, following the murder of Karni Sena youth president Himanshu Singh outside the DD Bar in Bistupur.
The order, signed by Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Magistrate Arnav Mishra, took effect on July 1, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.
The affected Sakchi, Bistupur, Sonari, Kadma, MGM, Mango and Golmuri police station areas cover a large part of urban Jamshedpur.
The SDM issued the order unilaterally, citing the urgency of the situation and the impracticability of giving advance notice to affected parties.
Under the order, all forms of protest, including demonstrations, sit-ins, effigy burning and road blockades, have been prohibited. Assemblies of five or more persons with the intent to disturb public peace have also been banned. In addition, use of loudspeakers or sound-amplifying equipment without prior permission is not permitted.
Moreover, no person is allowed to carry arms or weapons of any kind — including lathis, bows and arrows, spears or bladed instruments — in public spaces within the notified areas.
However, on-duty magistrates, police officers, security personnel, medical workers and accredited media persons have been exempted from the prohibitory order.
The administration has warned that violators will face legal action under the applicable provisions of law. The Bistupur police station in-charge was suspended earlier in connection with the same case, and a new officer has been put in charge of the station.
