Team Dead_Lock Triumphs with Gamification Solution for Rural Planning

JAMSHEDPUR – A team of six BTech students from NIT Jamshedpur emerged as the national winners of the 7th Smart India Hackathon 2024, held on December 12, 2024. The event was organised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC).

The winning team, named Dead_Lock, consisted of Vikash Kumar (Team Leader), Aryan, Isha, Souya Dey, Arnav Raj, and Mrinal Kumar. They secured the top spot for solving the problem statement, “Gamification for Rural Planning using Drone Land Survey Maps and GIS data.”

Triumph Against Tough Competition

The competition saw participation from over 57,000 teams nationwide, out of which 1,300 teams advanced to the Grand Finale. The achievement highlights the innovation and technical excellence demonstrated by the team from NIT Jamshedpur.

NIT Jamshedpur had earlier conducted an Internal Hackathon, coordinated by Prof. D. K. Yadav and Dr. Vishesh Ranjan Kar, where over 60 teams competed with ideas across various government and private sector themes.

A Proud Moment for NIT Jamshedpur

Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, congratulated the winning team and emphasized the institute’s dedication to nurturing innovation. “We always encourage activities that foster creativity and problem-solving skills among our young minds,” he said.

Nodal Officer Dr. Vishesh Ranjan Kar also acknowledged the efforts of the team, applauding their hard work and dedication throughout the hackathon.

This victory marks another milestone in NIT Jamshedpur’s pursuit of academic excellence and technological innovation.
