Ranchi Announces Traffic Changes for Muharram Processions

City-wide Diversions to Accommodate Religious Observances on July 17

Extensive road closures and rerouting planned to ensure smooth conduct of festival activities.

RANCHI – Ranchi Traffic Police has announced comprehensive traffic modifications for July 17 to facilitate Muharram processions throughout the city.

The Ranchi Traffic SP office declared that private and passenger vehicle movement will be suspended from 10 AM until the conclusion of the processions, with traffic diverted to alternative routes as needed.

"These measures are crucial for the safe and smooth conduct of the Muharram observances," stated a senior traffic official, who requested anonymity due to protocol. "We urge citizens to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with law enforcement."

Key Traffic Alterations

Major changes to traffic flow include:

1. Upper Bazaar Area: Closures affect routes from Kishori Yadav Chowk, Shaheed Chowk, and Subhash Chowk.

2. Albert Ekka Chowk: Access restricted from Kachhari Chowk, Chadri Talab, and Plaza Chowk.

3. Main Road: Multiple entry points closed, including SN Ganguli Road and Sujata Chowk.

4. Other Significant Closures:

– Purulia Road to Sarjana Chowk

– Karbala Chowk to Ratan PP Compound Chowk

– Kadru to Main Road via Radisson Blue Hotel

– Mecon Chowk to Rajendra Chowk

Public Advisory

Residents are encouraged to:

– Plan alternative routes in advance

– Expect delays in affected areas

– Follow instructions from traffic personnel on duty

"We appreciate the public’s understanding as we balance religious observances with city-wide mobility," the official added. "These temporary inconveniences are necessary to ensure everyone’s safety during this important festival."

Local religious leaders have welcomed the traffic arrangements. "These measures will allow for a more focused and secure observance of Muharram," said Imam Abdul Rashid of a prominent local mosque.

As Ranchi prepares for this significant religious event, authorities emphasize the importance of community cooperation in maintaining order and safety throughout the processions.
