JAMSHEDPUR – A Congress leader has slammed the BJP-called shutdown as pure political theatrics following a local leader’s murder.
Jharkhand Congress secretary Prince Singh strongly criticised the BJP bandh on Friday. The shutdown protested the murder of Karni Sena leader Himanshu Singh.
Singh called the bandh complete nautanki, or theatrics. He alleged common citizens were being forced to join it.
Additionally, this disrupted normal life and business across Jamshedpur, he said. However, he argued that no party should exploit any incident.
Law enforcement agencies must be allowed to work independently, he said. “No political party should pressure common people to show its strength,” Singh said.
Meanwhile, Singh levelled serious allegations against Neeraj Singh, the bar operator. He claimed such establishments push many young people toward wrong paths.
On the other hand, Singh alleged the bar owner only performs nautanki. He said the bar owner should clarify his position if innocent.
In addition, Singh demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the case. He urged strict legal action against anyone found guilty.
Besides that, Singh said the Congress party views the murder as extremely serious. He expressed deep condolences to the deceased leader’s family.
Moreover, Singh said his party stands firmly with the grieving family. He also prayed for the quick recovery of injured Pratyush.
Singh stressed that criminals must never be spared under any circumstances. He said swift, impartial action would ensure justice for the family.
Singh’s remarks come days after Congress workers staged separate protests in the city. Local party leaders have also previously clashed with rivals near a Congress office in the district.
Party functionaries in the region, including those tied to a case where Congress leaders reacted sharply to a court verdict, have repeatedly urged calm during tense periods. Separately, a youth killed case in the district last year had also drawn similar political attention.
