Five Arrested for Kidnapping Mango Flyover Workers for Rs 10 Lakh Ransom

Supervisor and Assistant Manager Abducted at 3 AM, Rescued from Gaur Basti within Hours

JAMSHEDPUR – Police have cracked a sensational kidnapping and extortion case in the Ulidih OP area of Jamshedpur, arresting five accused within hours of the abduction of two employees of a company engaged in the construction of the Mango Flyover.

The incident occurred around 3 am on the intervening night of May 14-15. Supervisor Vijay Kumar Ojha and an assistant manager of the Mango Flyover construction company were near the Signature Building on Dimna Road.

Five youths arrived in a white Bolero without a number plate. They surrounded the two workers and first abused them verbally. They then assaulted both men and forcibly bundled them into the vehicle.

After the abduction, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. Meanwhile, other employees of the company were gripped with panic. They rushed to the Ulidih OP and informed the police about the kidnapping.

Police swung into action immediately. Within a few hours, both abducted workers were safely recovered from Mango Gaur Basti. The accused had kept them hostage at that location.

Police arrested five accused in the case. They have been identified as Shiva Gaud, Nitesh Gop, Akash Pradhan, Devashish Gop and Shailesh Gop. All five are being interrogated.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections relating to abduction, extortion and other charges. The FIR was registered on the statement of victim Vijay Kumar Ojha.

Police recovered the white Bolero used in the crime from the accused. The vehicle had a fake number plate affixed to it. In addition, five mobile phones were also seized from the accused.

A reliable source said, “The swift response by the Ulidih police ensured the safe recovery of both workers before any harm could come to them.”

Police are continuing to investigate the full extent of the case, including any possible larger network behind the criminal operation.
