Woman Critically Injured in Sakchi Road Accident

Pickup Van Hits Scooter Near Hotel Sagar Golchakkar

JAMSHEDPUR – A woman was critically injured after a speeding pickup van rammed a scooter near Hotel Sagar Golchakkar in Sakchi on Friday.

The accident occurred under Sakchi police station limits. It took place near Hotel Sagar Golchakkar.

A pickup van travelling at high speed hit a scooter. The scooter was carrying a couple.

The impact was severe. Consequently, the woman fell onto the road.

She came under the pickup van. Moreover, she was dragged nearly two metres.

Eyewitnesses said the driver tried to flee. However, local residents reacted swiftly.

They chased the vehicle immediately. Thereafter, they apprehended the driver.

The accused was handed over to Sakchi police. Meanwhile, officers detained him for questioning.

The injured woman’s condition was stated to be critical. She was rushed to Tata Main Hospital.

At TMH, doctors began treatment without delay. Meanwhile, the male rider also sustained injuries.

Police seized the pickup van. Furthermore, an investigation into the incident is underway.

Earlier, a car collision near Old Jail Chowk had left four injured. Likewise, six persons were hurt when a tempo overturned in Sakchi.

In another case, treatment delay of a road accident victim had triggered protests in the city.
