JAMSHEDPUR – A woman was robbed and shots were fired in Sidhgora on Saturday evening despite heightened police patrols for civic polls.

The incident occurred on Roro Road under Sidhgora police station limits in Jamshedpur. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The victim lives in Bagun Nagar. She was returning home after buying vegetables.

Meanwhile, motorcycle-borne criminals intercepted her midway. They snatched a gold chain from her neck.

However, she resisted and tried to stop them. The assailants then fired in the air.

Moreover, the gunshot created panic across the locality. The attackers fled immediately after firing.

The incident unfolded while police conducted flag marches. The exercise aimed to assure safety during municipal elections.

In contrast, residents expressed anger over policing gaps. They questioned security despite visible deployment.

Furthermore, fear gripped people in the neighborhood. Many called the act brazen and alarming.

Police teams reached the site soon after information. Officers began a preliminary investigation.

Meanwhile, CCTV cameras in nearby areas are being examined. Investigators are tracking the suspects’ movement routes.

Police officials said arrests would follow soon. An officer stated that the culprits would be identified quickly.

Similar crimes have surfaced in recent months. A Tinplate purse snatching case injured another woman.

Moreover, police earlier arrested a biker snatching gang in the city. A Golmuri chain attempt was also foiled.

Meanwhile, authorities had deployed 70 patrol bikes for surveillance. Earlier, police also solved a mobile snatching case.
