JAMSHEDPUR – Two persons were injured on Friday evening when a speeding Scorpio hit pedestrians near Jawahar Nagar Road No. 16 in the Azadnagar area.

According to eyewitnesses, the SUV bearing registration number JH10 BS 4040 was moving at high speed from Mango towards Pardih. However, near Road No. 16, the driver suddenly lost control and struck two youths and an elderly man standing by the roadside. The vehicle stopped only after colliding with an electric pole.

After the incident, locals rushed to the scene and found the driver heavily intoxicated. They pulled him out of the car and assaulted him before police arrived. Meanwhile, a Tiger Mobile team reached the spot promptly and brought the situation under control. Police rescued the driver from the crowd and took him to the station.

A police source stated that the man was completely drunk. The Scorpio has been seized, and a case is being filed under sections related to drunk driving, rash driving, and road accident offenses.

However, police also appealed to citizens not to take the law into their own hands in such situations and to immediately inform the police instead.

Local residents said that vehicles often move at excessive speed on this stretch at night, making accidents frequent.
