Saryu Roy Criticizes Lack of Civic Services in Kadma-Sonari

MLA Urges JNAC and Tata Steel UISL to Prioritize Public Interest

MLA Saryu Roy highlights sanitation and water issues in Jamshedpur’s Kadma-Sonari area, demanding transparency from authorities.

Key Points:

  • Kadma-Sonari faces sanitation and water supply challenges.
  • Saryu Roy demands action from JNAC and Tata Steel UISL.
  • Officials warned of oversight and potential legal action.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has called for immediate attention to civic issues in Kadma and Sonari, urging JNAC and Tata Steel UISL to prioritize public welfare over favoritism. Speaking at a meeting with officials, he criticized the lack of transparency and declining sanitation standards in these areas.

Roy emphasized the deteriorating cleanliness post-assembly elections. He revealed that 25 sanitation workers, previously allocated during elections, are no longer deployed. “I don’t want these workers at my disposal but expect Tata Steel UISL to allocate them to JNAC for effective sanitation,” he stated.

Rising Concerns Over Water Connection Charges

Addressing the high water connection fees in settlements, Roy pointed out that Tata Steel UISL could offer concessions to the economically weaker sections. “The state government has fixed rates, but reductions for the poor won’t lead to penalties,” he argued, urging the corporation to adopt a more empathetic approach.

Sanitation Standards Under Scrutiny

With sanitation services disrupted, waste accumulation in Kadma-Sonari has raised alarm. Contractors previously engaged have reportedly withdrawn their workforce. Roy warned that by January 25, an accountability review of sanitation workers would be conducted, failing which legal action might be recommended.

Demands for Clarifications

The MLA demanded explanations from Tata Steel UISL regarding inconsistencies in their commitments to civic services. He questioned their refusal to undertake cleanliness responsibilities and provide affordable water connections. “If Tata Steel UISL continues with this stance, we will explore alternatives for these essential services,” he asserted.

The ongoing issues, Roy said, highlight a failure to uphold the objectives of the Industrial Town Committee, making it imperative for authorities to address public grievances transparently.
