Critical Gaps Found at Sakhi Centre During Surprise Check

SDO Orders Immediate Steps to Improve Women Support Services

Key Points:

  • Lack of night guard hampers shelter facilities at One Stop Centre
  • Officials review medical, legal aid services for victimized women
  • Child Helpline operations also inspected for effectiveness

JAMSHEDPUR – SDO Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar conducted a surprise inspection of support facilities for women and children at the Red Cross building.

The inspection revealed several operational challenges at the Sakhi-One Stop Centre. The facility lacks essential services for women facing abuse.

“We will take immediate steps to address these concerns,” assured SDO Majumdar during the visit.

Infrastructure Gaps

The absence of a night guard has affected shelter services. Women requiring emergency accommodation face difficulties.

Moreover, the center struggles with basic amenities. Issues include poor water supply and inadequate cleaning staff.

Service Enhancement Plans

The SDO directed staff to better inform victims about available support. This includes raising awareness about legal rights and government schemes.

Meanwhile, Executive Magistrate Sudipt Raj accompanied the inspection team. They reviewed medical facilities and counseling services.

Helpline Services

The Child Helpline operations were also evaluated. The administration emphasized improving its rescue and rehabilitation services.

Furthermore, citizens can report cases through multiple channels. The Sakhi Centre’s helpline number is 9430123165.

“These centers must serve as true havens of support,” remarked a social worker involved with the facilities.
