- Plans initiated to shift MGM Hospital to a new facility in Mango.
- Increase in patient numbers reported, with medicine shortages noted.
JAMSHEDPUR – On Monday, Dr. Shikha Rani, Superintendent of MGM Hospital, conducted an inspection of the hospital’s emergency, gynecology, and pediatric wards. She interacted with patients to understand their issues and reviewed the availability of essentials like blankets and sheets.
Discussions were held with department heads regarding the planned transfer of the hospital to its new location in Mango. Detailed plans were discussed to ensure a smooth transition, starting with specific departments.
Transition Plan to Mango Facility
The transfer is set to begin on January 16, with department heads tasked to finalize seating arrangements and storage facilities. Dr. Rani emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to avoid disruptions during the relocation. A meeting involving the Deputy Commissioner, hospital authorities, and the medical college principal is scheduled for Tuesday to refine these plans further.
Patient Surge Amid Winter
Meanwhile, the hospital is witnessing a rise in patient numbers due to the cold weather. The medicine department, in particular, is overcrowded, and the dermatology unit is also experiencing heavy footfall. Most complaints involve colds, coughs, and respiratory issues, primarily affecting children and the elderly. A shortage of medicines has added to the patients’ woes, with many forced to seek alternatives outside the hospital.
