Jaduguda – Residents of Dharmadih village in Jaduguda, East Singhbhum, live in constant fear due to the dilapidated state of the electricity supply infrastructure. Even 24 years after the formation of Jharkhand, the village relies on bamboo poles for power transmission, with no signs of improvement.
Villager Virendra Sharma highlighted the danger, stating, “The wires are just four feet above the ground, posing a severe risk to both people and animals passing beneath them.” Hundreds of villagers and livestock navigate under these makeshift setups daily, putting their lives at risk.
Despite repeated complaints, local electricity department officials remain unresponsive. Villagers accuse them of waiting for a major disaster before taking action. The community continues to demand immediate intervention to replace the hazardous setup and provide a safe electricity supply.
It remains to be seen when the electricity department will wake up to the pressing issue and take measures to alleviate the villagers’ fears.
