JAMSHEDPUR – The first-ever Jharkhand Basketball League wrapped up at Dhatkidih Community Centre, showcasing local talent and fostering community engagement.

The inaugural Jharkhand Basketball League, a three-day event organized by the Jharkhand Basketball Association, concluded with a riveting finale at Jamshedpur’s Dhatkidih Community Centre.

In a hard-fought battle, the East Singhbhum Eagles emerged victorious against the Jamshedpur Jammers, securing a 63-51 win.

The tournament’s standout performers were recognized for their exceptional skills on the court.

Ganesh, whose stellar performance in the final match was instrumental in the Eagles’ triumph, earned the title of Best Player of the Match.

Abhas Panwar’s consistent excellence throughout the tournament earned him the prestigious Best Player of the Tournament accolade.

The victorious East Singhbhum Eagles were rewarded with a trophy and a substantial cash prize of ₹30,000 for their championship-winning efforts.

The Jamshedpur Jammers, as runners-up, received a trophy and ₹20,000, while the third-place finishers took home ₹12,000 and a trophy.

The league featured six teams from across Jharkhand, competing in a total of 15 matches over the course of the tournament.

  2. Ranchi Rangers vs. Skippers: 47-20

  3. Ballers vs. Hoopers: 65-45

  4. Ballers vs. Skippers: 33-20

  5. East Singhbhum Eagles vs. Hoopers: 44-27

  6. Jamshedpur Jammers vs. Ranchi Rangers: 59-54

The tournament provided a platform for players across various age categories, including senior, junior, and youth divisions, to showcase their talents and gain valuable competitive experience.

Prominent figures from the local community and basketball administration graced the event with their presence.

Among the distinguished guests were Sharat Chandran, Director of KPS Schools, and social workers Mukhtar Alam and Azhar Khan.

Key members of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, including President Harbhajan Singh, Secretary JP Singh, Treasurer Pradeep Mukherjee, and Technical Head Arif Aftab, were also in attendance to support the inaugural league.

In a gesture aimed at nurturing grassroots basketball development, JP Singh, on behalf of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, donated two basketballs to the Dhatkidih Community Centre.

"This tournament has ignited a passion for basketball among our youth," said Harbhajan Singh, President of the Jharkhand Basketball Association. "We hope to see many more talented players emerge from Jharkhand in the coming years."

The success of the inaugural Jharkhand Basketball League has set a promising foundation for the sport’s growth in the region, with plans already underway for future editions of the tournament.
