JAMSHEDPUR – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, known as the Jharkhand Tiger, will visit West Singhbhum on Sunday to pay tribute to the Gua martyrs.
After a two-day tour of Assam, Champai Soren returned to his residence in Jillinggora, Jamshedpur, late on Saturday night via Baharagora.
He was accompanied by his wife, son, and daughter during the visit.
While in Assam, Soren visited the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati with his family.
He prayed for the prosperity, peace, and well-being of the people of Jharkhand.
Soren shared photos of his visit on the social media platform X, stating, “Visited Maa Kamakhya Devi in Guwahati with my family, seeking blessings for the happiness and prosperity of Jharkhand.”
Special Reception by Assam CM
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also posted a photo on X, where he expressed his gratitude for hosting Champai Soren and his family.
In his post, Sarma wrote, “It was an honor to welcome former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and his family to Guwahati. We had the opportunity to introduce them to Assamese cuisine and learn from their experiences.”
During the tour, Sarma extended special hospitality to Soren, honoring him with an Assamese gamocha and offering him the main chair at the dining table.
Soren also expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received in Assam.
Strengthening Ties
The visit further solidified the relationship between Assam and Jharkhand.
A local journalist commented, “The strong ties between the two states were evident in the respect and hospitality shown during Champai Soren’s visit.”
This trip not only highlighted the cultural connections but also reinforced the bond between the leaders of the two states.
