Champai Soren’s ‘Surveillance’ Sparks Political Tensions in Jharkhand

Assam CM accuses Jharkhand Police of spying on ex-CM Champai Soren; Delhi Police detains two.

Jharkhand’s political landscape heats up as allegations of surveillance on former CM Champai Soren surface following his official move to the BJP.

RANCHI – Allegations of surveillance on former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren have ignited political controversy in the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Jharkhand government and police of spying on Soren.

According to Sarma, two individuals monitored Soren from Ranchi to Delhi, coordinating with a woman to plan a larger scheme.

However, Delhi Police detained all suspects in time, preventing any further actions, he said.

Sarma detailed that the surveillance began when Soren traveled from Ranchi to Kolkata and then to Delhi.

The individuals allegedly followed him on the same flight and booked a room next to his in the Taj Hotel to gather information on his meetings and movements.

When their activities raised suspicion, the two claimed to be journalists, but it was later revealed by Delhi Police that they were special branch officers from Jharkhand Police.

Upon interrogation, it was discovered that their assignment was to monitor Soren whenever he visited Delhi.

In response, Champai Soren filed a formal complaint, and further investigations are underway.

Jharkhand’s opposition leader, Amar Bauri, criticized the current state government, stating, “This government is scared and can stoop to any level to retain power. We have seen such tactics during the Mughal era, where people were killed to save the throne. It is unfortunate to see such actions today.”

The unfolding events have created a stir in Jharkhand’s political circles, with calls for transparency regarding who ordered such surveillance.
