Dr. Ajoy Kumar Accuses BJP of Engaging in Sabotage Politics

Former MP Dr. Ajoy Kumar claims BJP is panicking after Lok Sabha defeat; INDIA alliance remains strong.

Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar criticized the BJP on Monday, accusing them of engaging in sabotage politics.

JAMSHEDPUR – Reacting to the news of former Chief Minister Champai Soren possibly joining the BJP, Dr. Ajoy Kumar stated, "The BJP has always believed in the politics of breaking up other parties. This is their true character."

He added that the BJP had formed the government in Maharashtra by such means, only to be rejected by the people in the Lok Sabha elections.

Dr. Kumar further noted, "In Jharkhand, the tribal and indigenous communities rejected the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, leading to a crushing defeat for them in five tribal-majority seats."

He highlighted that the BJP had attempted to weaken the opposition before the Lok Sabha elections by bringing in Congress’s Geeta Koda and JMM’s Sita Soren, but both candidates lost.

Commenting on Champai Soren’s decision, Dr. Kumar expressed his disappointment, saying, "The BJP has successfully trapped the innocent Champai Soren. I can foresee what his fate will be in the BJP, and I feel sad for him because he is a good person and a close friend."

However, Dr. Kumar assured that Champai Soren’s move will not harm the INDIA alliance.

"The people of Jharkhand are aware of what’s happening. The BJP is panicking after being rejected by the tribals in the Lok Sabha elections. This is why they are trying to weaken the INDIA alliance by creating divisions in the JMM and Congress," he stated.

Dr. Kumar added, "But the people of Jharkhand have full faith in Hemant Soren’s government. I am confident that the INDIA alliance will form the government again in Jharkhand."

Dr. Ajoy Kumar, however, did not say anything about Champai Soren’s allegation that he was stopped from attending pre-scheduled programs despite being a Chief Minister. He also did not say anything about why a sitting Chief Minister should be summarily asked to resign just to ensure that a former incumbent is accommodated and whether the CM’s post can be treated as a family fiefdom.

Despite, Dr. Ajoy Kumar and Banna Gupta’s scathing criticism, the ground support, at least in Kolhan region, remains with Champai Soren. Political analysts feel that people’s sympathy for Champai Soren is palpable and despite what Congress and JMM leaders may say, Champai Soren’s switching side just before the Assembly elections may seriously dent the prospects of INDIA alliance, at least in Kolhan.
