Adityapur – Blood donation, often termed as "Mahadaan" or the greatest donation, is crucial in saving lives during emergencies such as accidents and surgeries.

Despite the dire statistic that around 12,000 patients die daily in India due to the lack of timely blood supply, individuals like Arun Pathak have dedicated their lives to addressing this shortage.

Arun Pathak, a 55-year-old successful entrepreneur from Jamshedpur, has become a local hero by donating blood an astounding 139 times.

Recognized as a dedicated blood donor, Pathak not only contributes himself but also actively raises awareness about the importance of blood donation.

Mr. Pathak’s dedication is shared by his family, who support and participate in his blood donation campaign.

His elder daughter, Dr. Ragini Pathak, donates blood regularly alongside her medical profession.

His younger son, Anurag Pathak, who assists in the family business, also visits the blood bank every three months to donate.

Arun Pathak’s journey began during his college days when he donated blood for the first time as a hobby.

Little did he know that this act would lead to a lifelong commitment.

Health Benefits of Blood Donation

Today, he is celebrated in Jamshedpur as a "blood donor Shatakveer," spreading awareness and educating others on the benefits of blood donation.

Mr. Pathak addresses common misconceptions about blood donation, such as the fear of weakness post-donation.

He emphasizes that regular blood donation does not cause weakness; rather, it can enhance overall efficiency and health.

He assures that anyone, regardless of gender, can donate blood as long as their hemoglobin levels and blood volume are adequate.
