Election Preparation and Security Measures in Jamshedpur

The nomination process for the Jamshedpur parliamentary seat began on Monday, marking the start of a critical electoral phase. Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal announced the details during a press conference at the DC office, outlining the election schedule and related measures.

JAMSHEDPUR – Election activities for the Jamshedpur parliamentary seat officially commenced this Monday.

The nomination process started today, April 29, and will continue until May 6.

Candidates are allowed to submit their nomination forms between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm daily during this period.

The window for the withdrawal of nominations is scheduled from May 7 to May 9.

Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal provided this information at a press conference, which also saw the presence of SP Kishore Kaushal and DDC.

Security and Accessibility Enhancements

Concerning security arrangements, SP Kishore Kaushal stated, “The police are actively engaged in precautionary actions throughout the election process.

A significant security measure includes the imposition of CCA on 20 individuals, while precautionary actions have been taken against 2500 people.

Additionally, 700 individuals have been restricted to the sub-divisional office, and 1178 weapons have been deposited to ensure peace during the election.

In response to the high temperatures expected during polling, DC Mittal announced that sheds would be constructed at polling booths to provide voters with shelter from the sun.

Four volunteers will be stationed at each booth to distribute water and assist voters.

Provisions are also in place to ensure that elderly and disabled voters receive adequate support, including home voting sessions scheduled in two phases from May 14 to May 19 and May 21 to May 22.

Vehicles will be available to transport elderly voters to polling stations.

Wheelchair arrangements have been made in all urban polling stations to aid disabled voters.

Observer and Monitoring Efforts

Deputy Commissioner Mittal further noted the arrival of expenditure observer S Gupta from Goa, who is now stationed in Jamshedpur.

One more general observer, one police observer, and one additional expenditure observer are expected to join the monitoring team,” added DC Mittal.

Two expenditure observers will oversee the financial aspects of the election across various constituencies in the district.

To date, authorities have seized cash totalling Rs 68 lakh 8466 at various checkpoints in Jamshedpur, underscoring the strict monitoring efforts in place.
