JAMSHEDPUR – The Lathicharge on traders of Bistupur has now ballooned into a major controversy. And it has also taken a toll on the team involved in the action. Five home guard jawans have been suspended, while the City Manager Ravi Bharti, for now, has been reassigned to the JNAC office responsibilities.

Jamshedpur’s recent police action against businessmen following a protest has led to administrative repercussions, including suspensions and reassignments.

A serious conflict erupted when police used lathi charges to disperse protesting businessmen in Bistupur.

The protest was initially sparked by actions to remove encroachments, which local businessmen opposed.

Subsequent to the lathi charge, the business community in Bistupur organized an agitation demanding accountability and prompt investigation.

In response to the unrest and protests, the administration conducted a thorough investigation into the incident.

As a result, five Home Guards involved in the incident have been suspended.

Moreover, City Manager Ravi Bharti has been reassigned from his position to an office role in Jamshedpur, marking a significant shift in responsibilities.

An FIR has also been registered to further address the legal aspects of the incident and the actions taken during the protest.

The incident had invoked a major controversy. The traders had flayed the JNAC and police action. Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato too had condemned the action and had called for action against the persons involved in the action.
