IMD Predicts Wet Weather Followed by Dry Spell in Jharkhand

The India Meteorological Department forecasts rain with thunderstorms in Jharkhand until April 18, followed by drier conditions.

RANCHI – The India Meteorological Department’s Ranchi office has released a 15-day weather forecast for Jharkhand, highlighting a rainy period with thunderstorms expected from April 12 to 18, as per meteorologist Abhishek Anand.

The initial phase of the forecast period is particularly poised for thunderstorms, especially in the first three days.

Post the rainy spell, from April 19 to 25, the weather is anticipated to turn dry with below-normal rainfall levels across the state.

Temperature projections during the wet week show maximums ranging between 27°C and 40°C, with a trend towards normal or slightly cooler conditions. The following week, however, is expected to see a rise in temperatures, with maximums stretching from 29°C to 42°C.

Minimum temperatures from April 12 to 18 are forecasted to hover between 20°C and 26°C, indicating normal or slightly warmer nights. The subsequent week’s minimum temperatures are predicted to stay within the normal range of 19°C to 25°C.

Reflecting on the past week, Anand noted that Jharkhand witnessed a broad temperature range, with maximums between 27°C and 44°C and minimums from 19°C to 28°C. The region experienced an 86 percent increase in rainfall over the usual, with 12 districts reporting excessive amounts, including five with excess rainfall, five with normal levels, and two with below-normal precipitation.
