cVIGIL App Boosts Election Integrity, Invites Complaints on Model Code of Conduct Violation

C-Vigil App Empowers Voters in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

In an innovative move by the Election Commission, the C-Vigil app allows voters to report Model Code of Conduct violations during the Lok Sabha elections 2024, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Election Commission has urged the common citizen to use the cVIGIL app for lodging complaints about any violation of the model code of conduct whenever they detect any.

Voters are encouraged to download the C-Vigil app from their mobile app store to participate in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

The Election Commission has called on citizens to become the "eyes, nose, and ears" of the Commission, highlighting the app’s role in creating a fair playing field for all candidates.

Types of complaints that can be reported include money distribution, gift/coupon distribution, liquor distribution, unauthorized distribution of campaign materials, unauthorized gatherings or meetings, and unauthorized use of religious or inflammatory rhetoric.

The app’s transparent complaint process includes preliminary verification by the Returning Officer and decision-making for resolution, ensuring accountability and efficiency.

Upon complaint submission, the nearest Flying Squad Team (FST) is alerted for an on-site investigation, with the Election Commission promising action within 100 minutes.

Anonymous reporting is supported, allowing voters to lodge complaints without revealing personal information, although providing contact details enables complaint tracking.

District Election Officer, Ananya Mittal, stressed the critical role of citizen vigilance in upholding the electoral process’s integrity through the innovative C-Vigil mobile app.
