Nandini Goel, Garima Malik and Mayank Nagpurkar Shine in XLRI Convocation

Dr. Amit Kumar Banerjee, Dr. Alok Raj, Dr. Amitava Mukherjee and Dr Shameem S Honoured for Research Papers

Xavier School of Management, one of India’s premier B-Schools, celebrated its 68th Annual Convocation on March 23, 2024, conferring degrees upon 551 students across various programs. The prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace was awarded to N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to society and the nation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Fr S George S.J., Director of XLRI Jamshedpur, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest, N Chandrasekaran, and fondly remembered Late Dr. Ashis K Pani, Former Dean (Academics), for his 25 years of dedicated service to the institution. "It is an historic year of celebration as we commemorate 75 Years of educating young minds and contributing to building our nation," Fr George said.

Accepting the medal, Chandrasekaran highlighted the Tata Group’s priorities, which include simplification, synergy, sustainability, supply chain transformation, and digital transformations. "The next generation of leaders is you. India awaits your contribution in the form of the story you will create," he said, congratulating the graduates.

T V Narendran, CEO & MD of Tata Steel and Chairman of XLRI, addressed the audience, stating, "At XLRI, we are at a constant quest to deliver better to our students. There is also an expectation that over the next 20-30 years, it is going to be a India-China moment, keeping in mind the kind of progress that India is making."

Foundation stone for new hostel laid

N Chandrasekaran, along with XLRI officials, laid the foundation stone for the new student hostel on the day of the 68th Annual Convocation. Earlier, on December 10, 2023, Vice-President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar had laid the foundation stone for the new Research Scholar’s Residence at the XLRI Jamshedpur Campus.

Launch of "Akeera" student club for mental well-being

As part of its commitment to supporting students’ mental well-being, XLRI introduced "Akeera," a student club focusing on peer support, mental health awareness, and emotional well-being practices. Dr Pooja Mohanty, Head of Psychotherapy and Counselling Services at XLRI, said, "As members of this club, students provide peer support and make themselves available to others by offering means to de-stress. This will help in advocating mental health awareness, emotional well-being practices, stigma reduction and breaking barriers to promote help seeking behaviors."
