Young Man Takes Own Life in Saraikela-Kharsawan District

24-year-old Mukesh Hessa found hanging in his room after minor argument with wife

Family discovers tragedy hours later, highlights need for mental health awareness in rural areas.

ADITYAPUR – A 24-year-old man, Mukesh Hessa, was found dead in his home in Kulupatanga Basti under RIT police station of Saraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday.

Hessa reportedly took his own life by hanging using a gamcha (traditional towel) following a minor argument with his wife the previous night.

His wife, Tulsi Hessa, stated, "We had a small disagreement last night. He went to sleep in his room while I slept on the roof with our daughter due to the heat."

The family discovered the tragedy when Tulsi couldn’t open the locked room door in the afternoon.

Mukesh, a daily wage laborer in the civil construction sector, leaves behind a young child.

The body was taken to MGM Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police had not arrived at the scene at the time of reporting, and the body is kept at the hospital morgue.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.

This incident highlights the urgent need for mental health awareness and support systems in rural areas.

Local authorities may need to investigate any underlying issues that led to this tragic event.

The case underscores the importance of accessible counseling services in remote communities.
