JAMSHEDPUR – A crucial step towards the resolution of land disputes for the Dhalbhumgarh Airport has been taken with the scheduling of a Gram Sabha.
Local Panchayat representatives are being enlisted to aid in this critical discussion.
The administration’s engagement has led to a positive response from the villagers, promising a swift finalization of the Gram Sabha’s date.
Concurrently, the application for a Forest No-Objection Certificate has progressed, moving from the Jamshedpur Forest Division to the Chief Conservator in Ranchi.
This dual approach aims at resolving pending issues to facilitate the airport’s development.
Village Consensus and Land Requirements
Out of the 99 hectares needed for the airport, 61 hectares have been officially recorded.
Villagers from Char Chakka, Burudih, and Narsinghgarh support the project, whereas Devsol and Ruasol residents oppose it.
The administration is focused on addressing these disputes by March to move forward with construction.
Project Background and Investment
Initiated in 2019, the airport project aims to boost regional connectivity but faced delays due to environmental and land acquisition challenges.
With renewed efforts, including significant paperwork and advocacy by the local MP, the project is gaining momentum.
The Central and State Governments have committed over Rs 300 crore, with Rs 100 crore already allocated by the Airport Authority of India.
The airport is deemed essential for connecting Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal, promising significant benefits for regional air travel.
