Initiative Uses Tourism Revenue to Boost Growth in Dalma Elephant Sanctuary Villages
An exciting new initiative has been launched to foster the development of approximately 85 villages within the Dalma Elephant Sanctuary, utilizing an annual allocation of 50 Lakh.
JAMSHEDPUR – An ambitious project has been introduced to support the growth and development of around 85 villages situated in the Dalma Elephant Sanctuary.
The initiative is fueled by the revenue generated from tourist visits, which has already surpassed 25 lakhs during the peak tourist season from December to March.
The annual revenue from entry fees and other sources is projected to reach 50 lakhs, forming the financial backbone of the project.
Each year, a comprehensive plan will be crafted to allocate funds for various developmental projects.
These projects will be overseen by the Gram Sabhas of local villages, ensuring community involvement and empowerment.
One significant project involves constructing reservoirs in Dalma to support fish farming, enhancing villagers’ income and benefiting local wildlife with additional water sources.
Other planned infrastructure projects include building culverts, check dams, street lights, and water supply schemes.
Training programs will also be available for animal keepers to improve their skills and knowledge.
The forest department has engaged with villagers to gather their ideas and suggestions for development projects and employment opportunities.
This collaborative approach aims to address the needs of both the communities and the wildlife sanctuary, promoting sustainable development in the region.
The initiative promises to create job opportunities and enhance the overall well-being of the Dalma Forest area.
