Jharkhand Boosts Women’s Empowerment

CM Champai Soren Praises Women’s Role in State Development

Jharkhand’s commitment to women’s empowerment shines with Rs 8,247 crore invested in Sakhi Mandals for development.

JAMSHEDPUR – At an impactful women’s conference in Ranchi, diverse narratives from women across Jharkhand highlighted their journey towards socio-economic independence.

The Jharkhand government has made a significant policy shift, increasing the free electricity quota from 100 to 125 units monthly, poised to benefit over 30 lakh households.

In a move to strengthen tribal communities, the Hemant Soren administration had previously initiated several welfare schemes focusing on basic needs.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s rich resources contrasted with the tribals’ challenging socio-economic conditions, underscoring the need for targeted developmental schemes.

An official detailed the conference’s goal to foster women’s socio-economic autonomy, showcasing various livelihood opportunities and skill enhancement.

The event saw participation from thousands of Sakhi Mandal members, representing all 24 districts, underscoring the widespread impact of these initiatives.

Champai Soren, addressing the gathering in Ranchi, announced a substantial Rs 825 crore funding boost for Sakhi Mandals, aimed at livelihood enhancement.

This funding is part of a larger Rs 8,247 crore allocation over four years, significantly outpacing the previous government’s Rs 642 crore contribution.

The Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society has been instrumental in forming 55,000 Sakhi Mandals, engaging approximately 32 lakh families in grassroots economic activities.

The Chief Minister’s office reported the substantial financial support for the Sakhi Mandals as part of a broader strategy to empower women and promote statewide development.

Champai Soren lauded women’s unparalleled contributions to Jharkhand’s progress, highlighting their pivotal role in societal and state development.
