Devotees Flock to Ayodhya Before Ram Idol Consecration

Ayodhya Sees Surge in Devotees Ahead of Ram Idol Event, Water Police Deployed for Safety

Devotees are flocking to Ayodhya in anticipation of the consecration of the idol of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram on January 22, prompting enhanced safety measures including the deployment of water police. This historic event is set to draw an unprecedented number of visitors, necessitating meticulous crowd management and safety protocols.

LUCKNOW – The Ayodhya Water Police, established in 2019, has been a beacon of safety, rescuing over 400 individuals in the past four years.

This unit is crucial for those inadvertently venturing into deep waters or affected by floods.

With the increasing influx of devotees, their role has become even more significant.

To cater to the growing needs, the Water Police’s resources and plans are being expanded.

Their responsibilities extend from Nayaghat to Guptarghat, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

The team includes one head constable, 19 constables, and two platoons of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), totaling 35 personnel.

They are equipped with 4 boats, engines, life-saving gear, and other essential equipment.

Additional resources, including six boats and life jackets, are expected by January 20.

This enhanced presence is in response to the upcoming consecration of the idol of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, a significant religious event attracting devotees nationwide.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on December 30 and the initiation of several major projects, Ayodhya has seen a surge in visitor interest.

The Water Police are preparing for the movement of VVIPs and the general public during the idol consecration on January 22.

Their focus is on various aspects, including the beautification of Naya Ghat, water sports at Guptar Ghat, and quick response at all ghats, particularly Jamthara Ghat.

This meticulous preparation is part of a broader action plan to ensure the safety and smooth management of the expected large crowds.
