JMM Slams Center Over Uttarkashi Tunnel Mishap

JMM Concerned About Continuous Mishaps in Central Govt Projects

JMM criticizes central government’s handling of the Uttarkashi tunnel accident, highlighting concerns over worker safety and project management.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has voiced its concern over the recent Uttarkashi tunnel mishap, criticizing the central government’s approach to such incidents.

JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya expressed alarm over the continuous accidents occurring in central government projects across the country.

The recent tragedy in Uttarakhand, where 41 laborers, including 15 from Jharkhand, were trapped in a tunnel, has particularly resonated with the party.

Bhattacharya accused the central government and BJP-ruled state governments of negligence and lack of preparedness, prioritizing the interests of a few capitalists over worker safety.

He contrasted this with the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand, which, during the COVID-19 pandemic, made significant efforts to bring back stranded workers by various means, including road, rail, and air.

The JMM’s criticism extends to the BJP leaders’ response to the accident, accusing them of insensitivity and merely making statements against the Hemant government.

This incident has sparked a broader conversation about worker safety in government projects and the accountability of those in power.

JMM leaders said that the JMM’s stance reflects growing concerns about the welfare of laborers and the management of large-scale infrastructure projects in India.
