In a startling incident, a fire broke out in Ramji Singh’s straw stall in Jamshedpur’s Bagbera area, resulting in significant losses. The quick response from local residents and firefighters averted a major disaster.
JAMSHEDPUR – A sudden fire erupted in Ramji Singh’s straw stall located on Road No. 4 under Bagbera police station in Jamshedpur on Thursday morning.
The blaze, initially slow, gained momentum, prompting Singh to alert the fire department.
Upon receiving the report, two fire brigade units rushed to the scene and began battling the flames.
Despite their efforts, the straw stock was completely burnt, resulting in an estimated loss of ₹1 lakh.
Singh was engaged in house cleaning for Chhath festival when the mishap occurred.
He indicated that a nearby garbage fire, set during cleaning, inadvertently spread to the straw.
The incident created a tense atmosphere in the Bagbera area, with locals demonstrating commendable wisdom and quick action.
Community members took initial firefighting measures and promptly notified authorities, playing a critical role in controlling the situation.
Neighbour Tinku Kumar expressed uncertainty about the fire’s exact cause but acknowledged the significant financial loss suffered by Singh.
The incident highlights the need for caution during festive cleanings and the vital role of community and emergency services in crisis management.
